Festivals Joshua Tree National Park Art Exposition
International Deadline: July 15, 2019 – In recognition of a long-standing tradition between artists and our national parks, in 2013 Joshua Tree National Park Council for the Arts created an annual juried exhibition featuring art inspired by or depicting unique aspects of Joshua Tree National Park or its cultural history. The exhibition will hang at the historic 29 Palms Art Gallery for the month of September, with a gala awards reception.
Joshua Tree National Park attracts more than 2.5 million visitors each year from around the globe.
All artwork entries MUST depict or be inspired by the unique natural aspects of Joshua Tree National Park or its cultural history.
Open to living artists, working in visual art media, from around the world, age 18 and over. Artwork must be original work created by the artist within the last five (5) years and not previously submitted as an entry for a JTNP Art Exposition juried exhibition. Artwork submitted must be for sale.
- Two-Dimensional: Paintings and Works on Paper.
- Photography: Color or black and white, digital or film.
- Three-Dimensional: Sculpture, including wood, metal, stone, glass, mosaics, ceramics, fiber, fabric, mixed media, recycled materials and assemblage.
AWARDS & OPPORTUNITIES
In addition to the honor of being juried into the Joshua Tree National Park Art Exposition and Juried Exhibition, artists are eligible for up to $5,000 in cash awards plus inclusion in the exhibition catalogue for the show. All artists’ works will be available for sale during the exhibition, and artists may choose to sell additional artwork in a 10×10 booth space at the Art Market during the Art Exposition weekend events.
2019 Awards will be given in three categories: Two-Dimensional Art (Paintings & Works on Paper), Photography, and Three-Dimensional Art. Awards will include First Place, Second Place, Third Place in each category, plus one Best of Show.
Use the online entry form on our website, or email images and bio (see prospectus of email). Artists without access to a computer may submit entry fee, artist bio and images on CD or thumb drive via mail indicate on the Prospectus.
August 1, 2019 – Artists will be notified of acceptance into juried show by email or mail.
All work must remain on display for the duration of the show. A 35% commission on works sold during the show will be retained by JTNP Council for the Arts and 29 Palms Art Gallery.
Artists selected for the juried exhibition have an opportunity to sell additional artwork in a 10×10 booth space at the Art Market during the Art Expo weekend Sept. 14 & 15. Juried artists may have a booth space for a reduced rate of $25/space. Artists not selected for the juried exhibition can also have a booth space for $50/space for the weekend. A 10% commission on booth sales is requested.
Joshua Tree National Park Council for the Arts was formed in 2013-2014 to help foster the spirit of artistic expression inspired by the park, celebrate the park’s majestic landscape and precious wildlife, preserve the park’s cultural history, and support the preservation, enhancement, and sustainability of the entire California Deserts Region.
